Police Arrest 7 Kidnappers, Murders of Niger Delta Petroleum Manager.
Operatives of the IGP’s Police Intelligence Response Team deployed to Port Harcourt have arrested seven suspected kidnappers who abducted and killed Mr. Ubani Onyeama the Production Manager of Niger Delta Petroleum Resources.
Mr. Onyeama was killed even after the kidnappers received a ransom payment of N10million from the Niger Delta Petroleum company.
Giving details of the arrest in a statement, the Police said, “Sequel to the kidnapping of Mr. Ubani Onyeama 64 years, a production manager in Niger Delta Petroleum Resources based in PH by unknown gunmen in Woji, Port Harcourt on Saturday 16th October 2017, a ransom call was made to the hostage’s company demanding N100million which was paid to the kidnappers despite not getting a proof of life.
“IRT operatives deployed to Port Harcourt by IGP Ibrahim Idris swung into immediate action as the hostage was not released after the ransom was paid as negotiated and agreed.
“Unrelenting follow up by IRT team eventually led to the arrest of 7 of the kidnappers.

“Suspects confessed to various roles each played in the kidnap and admitted that the hostage, Ubani Onyeama died on the very day of his kidnap as a result of gunshot wounds he sustained during the kidnapping and they still went ahead to collect a ransom of N10million.
The suspects and roles played as confessed are as follows- Nduka Alarabe aka Abiola 34 gang leader. He organized the kidnap, recruited the hostage kidnappers, brought the 2 cars used for the kidnapping, led gang members to pick up the ransom
Godstime Eme 35. He is the second in command. A university graduate. He purchased the pre-registered sim which he used in negotiating for ransom and picked up the ransom. He also monitored the movement of Ubani Onyeama on the day of the kidnap.
Nkere Uwam 38 years old. He is the mastermind behind the kidnap, who also worked in the same company with the victim.
Wisdom Uchechi Chidi 35 is a notorious leader of Greenlanders Cult terrorizing Ahoda-East LGA. He provided the arms used in the kidnap.
Ayakazi Woyin-Kuro 32. He assisted in the recruitment of gang members.
Okpako Emperor 37. He also worked in the company and was part of the plot to kidnap Ubani and Adimibe Kanayo 30 who also worked in the company and was part of the plot to kidnap Ubani.
The Police listed items recovered from the suspects to include 1 AK47 Rifle and the two (2) vehicles used in the kidnap.
It said effort is ongoing to arrest other fleeing gang members, recover remaining arms and the body of the victim which they confessed to have dropped into the River.
