The 2 South African white Men Kidnapped in Maidaro Village at a Mining Site on Tuesday 23rd January 2018 and taken to Birnin Gwari Forrest kaduna State have been Rescued by the ACP Abba Kyari led Intelligence Response Team.
Mr. Thomas Arnold Pearce and Mr. Hendrik Gideon Smith were rescued on Saturday 27th January 2018 at about 3 am in Birnin Gwari Forest.

A statement by the Police confirming the rescue said, “The rescue effort was as a result of intense pressure mounted on the Kidnappers by the Intelligence Response Team IRT, the Police Helicopter Patrol and Kaduna State Command Police.
It said the victims were moved from Kaduna to Abuja Saturday morning and after debriefing in IRT Office Abuja, they were handed over to the South African Embassy and their Company’s representative by 7 am for medicals and other immediate needs.
“Victims are in good health condition and they have given useful information to the Police that will help in the Investigation.
The Police added that some suspects have been arrested and serious efforts to arrest remaining gang members in Progress.
