Officers of the Delta State Police Command in conjunction with Vigilante members have foiled an attempt by a 5-man kidnap gang to abduct two victims at Ibusa in Delta State with the Police arresting one of the kidnappers after a hot chase.
The arrested kidnapper later confessed to belong to a 6-man kidnap gang who had been terrorizing Delta State and parts of the South East, kidnapping victims for ransom.
Confirming the arrest, Delta State Police Command said, “On Friday 8th December 2017, at about 11. 20pm, based on information that 5 unknown men armed with guns are attempting to kidnap some victims in Ibusa, the Police swung into action.

“The 5 unknown men, three amongst whom were masked and armed with guns in an attempt to kidnap the duo of one Okechukwu Okorie of No 18 Akunne Aminchi Layout, Achalla Ibusa and Valentine of Onyekachi of 63 Oraifiti Street Iyiowa, Odekpe at the gate of Valentine Okorie’s house in Achalla Ibusa were resisted.
“The supposed victims of the kidnappers raised alarm, and the kidnappers took to their heels.
“A combined team of Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crimes Squad (SAKCCS) and the Neighbourhood watch, together with the victims, in pursuit of the hoodlums, arrested one of the kidnappers named Christian Izunobi, 35 years of 28 Ogbe Uku Idemili Street, Ogbaru, Anambra State.
“The suspect confessed to belong to a 6-man gang that perpetrated the crime and is assisting the police in investigation that will lead to the arrest of his fleeing gang members” the police added.
