In furtherance of its resolve to rid Delta State of criminal elements, the Delta State Police command has cracked down on several dare-devil armed robbery and kidnapping gangs in the run up to the yuletide celebration.

Consequently, the command has arrested dangerous and notorious kidnappers, armed robbery suspects, recovered snatched vehicles and recovered several arms and ammunition from the criminal gangs.

Giving details of the several successes against the hoodlums, the Police said, “On Thursday 28th December 2017, at about 7.30pm, information revealed that one Toyota Corolla with reg. no EPE 874 DQ, Navy Blue Colour, suspected to be snatched at gun point was driving towards Enerhen road.

“On getting to a particular spot, detectives swooped on them and on approaching to a point near Enerhen Village, the occupants who suspected they were being trailed, opened fire on the police which was repelled.

“In the process, they jumped out of the car and ran away with bullet wounds. The vehicle was recovered and on being searched, two cut to size locally made guns and 4 live cartridges and a car key with remote was recovered.

The police disclosed that preliminary inquiry has commenced with a view to arresting other suspects.

Regarding the arrested kidnappers, the police said, “Based on intelligence, one Kesiena Henry of Isoko Town was arrested with a grey coloured Honda Accord with reg. no. GBJ 419 FQ which was snatched at Ozoro recently.

The suspect confessed to be a member of the gang the kidnapped Mrs. Egodo and her two children at Kosini junction.

He also piloted the gang that killed the former Area Commander Ughelli. He also snatched a black Prado Jeep at Onwian Aladja belonging to Chief Ayiri.

He further confessed to belonging to the gang that killed SUPOL German, who was SARS Coordinator in Ughelli late in 2017.

Kesiena Henry exposed all the activities of other suspects which led to the arrest of one Luckyson Egavers, Akpomeda Williams, Egbe Break and the gangs’ kingpin, Anthony Ogbalo alias Dracula.

He also confessed to have collected the sum of M1million as his own share of the N3.2million ransom taken from victim’s family.

The police said efforts are being intensified to apprehend other suspects still at large.

For the arrested armed robbery suspect and recovery of exhibit, the Delta Command said, “On Tuesday 26th December 2017, at about 12. Noon, information was received that some armed robbers operating in a yellow and black Golf 3 wagon cat with reg. no. TAXIMO 261, with body inscription ‘TAXIMO’ robbed some victims in Imo state, of cash and other valuables.

“All dragon Patrol Teams were immediately and promptly put on alert. At about 12.45pm, at Nsukwua Junction along Ogwashi-kwu road, Dragon Patrol Team 22 led by Inspector Imooa Friday intercepted the vehicle with two occupants.

They are Samuel Kaycee aged 24 yrs of Oji road, Owerri and Chijioke Agwe aged 34 yrs of Orogbe- Owerri.

Consequent upon a search of the vehicle, total cash of #595, 000.00 hidden at different parts of the vehicle was recovered.
