The Commissioning of the ST Foods owned by the Nigerian Army took place on Tuesday at AYA, in the Asokoro District of the Federal Capital Territory, with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai disclosing that the initiative will ensure professionalism in the Supply and Transport Corps of the Nigerian Army.
Speaking at the occasion, Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, Major General Adamu Jidda recalled that in the 2nd quarter of 2017, ST Foods AHQ complex was commissioned by the Army Chief towards building a professional and responsive army.
He said that following the success recorded in the venture, the COAS mandated the Corps of Supply and Transport to establish ST foods not only in military cantonments and barracks but also in towns and cities.
“This is therefore the first ST foods complex outside a military environment and the third of such outlets” he said.

Major General Jidda noted that “this noble idea of establishing ST Foods in towns and cities to compete with other eateries will further enhance the capacity of the NACST in the provision of efficient catering services.
Throwing more light on the importance of ST foods, Jidda said, “In the words of Napoleon, “an army marches on its stomach’, therefore, a soldier that is well fed is not only healthy and in a better position to resist diseases, but more motivated to take on any task he may be called upon to undertake.
“Appropriate nutrition in terms of quality and quantity is required to ensure that the physical capacity and mental performance of military personnel remains at optimal levels.
“In other words, the provision of a good and conducive working environment will not be complete without due consideration of the nutritional needs of personnel. Therefore, the establishment of ST Foods is very apt” Major General Jidda added.
