Dambazau Visits Warring Communities in Ebonyi, Cross River

…. Sues for Peace

The Federal Government has appealed to warring communities in Cross River and Ebonyi State over land disputes to sheathe their swords and embrace peace for the harmonious relationship. The Honourable Minister of Minister of Interior, Lt.-General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), made the appeal when he visited the warring communities of Ukelle in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State and Izzi in Ebonyi State.

While condemning the incessant communal clashes between the two communities he said that the crisis which had affected farming communities could negatively impact food security in Nigeria. General Dambazau who led a delegation of the federal government on the assessment of the affected areas, expressed his dismay over the destruction of lives and properties due to the crisis. He however expressed government’s desire to ensure peaceful coexistence among the communities and appealed to the community leaders to continue to preach peace and remain calm as the disputes would be resolved soon.

During the tour of the area, the minister visited the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi and was received by the Controller of Nigerian Prisons Service in Ebonyi State, Emelia Adobi Oputa and other security officers. The Minister also used the opportunity of the tour to inspect some mega projects being executed by the government in the state including the ultra-modern Abakaliki Prison under construction by the State Government.
