Police Intercepts Truckload of Marijuana in Abuja as Operatives are Rewarded for Gallantry in Anambra
Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force attached to the FCT Joint Task Force on Covid 19 restriction of inter-state movement team, has intercepted a truck containing one hundred and seventy-four (174) bags of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, the interception was effected at FCT-Kogi state boundary in Abaji. It stated that the Chairman of the Task Force and Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Bala Ciroma while inspecting the recovered exhibits at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki, commended the operatives for their vigilance while encouraging them to sustain the tempo.
“The intercepted truck was transporting the illicit drugs from Auchi (Edo state) to Zamfara state. The suspects used tiles to conceal the illicit drugs from being detected by security operatives”.
“The suspects arrested include, Muktar Abdullahi, Umar Adamu, Saidu Mohammed and Lawali Suleiman, all male
“Following the directive by the Commissioner of Police FCT, the arrested suspects and the exhibits recovered have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

In another development, Police Operatives in Anambra State have been rewarded with N2m by Anambra state government following their courageous foiling of a vicious armed robbery attack in the state. The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano gave the cash reward of Two Million Naira (#2,000,000) to Police operatives who foiled the Robbery attack at Regina Caeli Junction along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway,Awka.
in a press staement released by PPRO Anambra state Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, the cash reward according to sources was to “boost their morale and encourage others to emulate them”. Similarly, the Governor’s wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano equally donated Four bags of 50Kg Rice to the police operatives.
“The Police operatives comprises of three Inspectors , four Sergeants and one Constable attached to Department of Operations and MOPOL 29 PMF Awka. Responding after presenting the cash to the affected officers who were given N250,000 and 25Kg bag of rice each, the state Commissioner of Police, John B.Abang, thanked the Governor his wife for motivating the officers”.
“The CP who said the gesture will go a long way in boosting the morale of the officers and encourage them to redouble their efforts further assured the governor and “Ndi Anambra” that the Command under his watch will continue to enhance safety and security in the State and deny criminal elements the opportunities to perpetrate their dastardly acts in the State”
