Politics: Threat of court action over NEC meeting, mere media imagination, says Bagudu
The Chairman of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, on Friday described the reported court threat against Thursday meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as mere media creation.
Atiku said that what is important is that President Muhammadu Buhari is happy with the resolution of APC leadership crisis which has removed distractions to efforts being made to tackle matters of the Nigerian State.

Bugudu told journalists after he met President Muhammadu Buhari alongside his colleague Governors and Chairman of APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni that all the decisions taken towards the NEC meeting was after due legal advice.
According to Bagudu, “media says a lot of things. But Mr President is very clear that he received due legal advice. And remember, before the 2019 primaries, Mr President demonstrated to everyone in this country that he will never sacrifice due process for expediency. Even when it was convenient to extend tenure of the then executive so that we don’t have a convention and primary at the same time. Mr President said no, no matter how tough it is, we are going to do the correct legal thing. So, Mr President will never do anything which the constitutional provisions of party, talk less of the country, does not allow him to do.”
Thursday’s emergency NEC meeting held at the Presidential Villa had announced the dissolution of the National Working Committe (NWC) and constituted the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Committee.
Buni was appointed chairman with Akpan Udoedehe as Secretary of the 13-member team has the core mandate is to organise a national convention within six months.
