Troops Eliminate Scores of Bandits in Tashan Kare, 2 Soldiers Pay Supreme Sacrifice

The Defence Headquarters said scores of armed bandits were eliminated by troops of Operation Whirl Punch at Tashan Kare, in Niger State.

A statement issued by Maj. Gen. John Enenche, on Monday, disclosed that in continuation of the aggressive clearance operation to rid criminal elements out of the North-Central, troops of Operation Whirl Punch, has recorded tremendous success against armed bandits.”

General Enenche who is the Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations (DMO), in the statement said: “Following credible intelligence on the activities of armed bandits attack at Tashan Kare, in Niger State. Troops swiftly mobilized to the scene and made contact with the bandits.

“The gallant troops engaged the armed bandits with superior fire power killing unspecified number while others fled in disarray into the bushes.”

It was however, gathered that two soldiers were killed, while two others were wounded in action.

The statement added that the operation was on going, and that details will soon follow.

The Military High Command has already congratulated the gallant troops for their professionalism while also encouraging them to intensify the onslaught against the enemies of our country.
