Nigerian Troops Eliminate 30 Terrorists in Foiled Ambush as Army Launches ‘Operation Tura Takaibango’

No fewer than 30 Boko Haram terrorists were yesterday killed in a brutal encounter with troops of the Nigerian Army, PRNigeria has gathered.

This is just as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has launched a new combat Operation tagged Tura Takaibango, to tackle insurgents in the North East.

They were neutralized in a bush, during a fierce combat with troops, who were advancing to some identified camps of BH/ISWAP fighters at the Timbuktu Triangle, along kafa and Gorigori axis.

A military source had told PRNigeria, that though the troops encountered some Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on their paths while advancing to the terrorists’ camps, they ‘deftly’ escaped the IEDs unhurt.

“The gallant troops engaged the criminals which led to the decimation of over 30 terrorists,” he said. According to the source, the soldiers destroyed one gun truck, and recovered one anti-aircraft gun, one GPMG, 10 Ak-47 rifles, one hand grenade and hundred of assorted ammunition, from the terrorists.

In a related development, military troops in Yobe State, who acted on credible information, on Wednesday, repelled Boko Haram’s attempt to invade Geidam town and other neighbouring communities in the State.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Training and Operations, Maj. Gen. Nuhu Angbazo, who represented Buratai at a press briefing on the launching of Operation Tura Takaibango, highlighted the successes so far recorded in the ongoing exercise.

He urged the general public to be more vigilant, and report suspicious strangers and movements in their communities to the Army or any other security agencies close to them.
