War on Terror: Excitement as Banki town in Borno holds first Jumma’at prayer in 8 years

Nigerian military’s renewed onslaught on Boko Haram terrorists in the North East has continued to yield outstanding results as Banki, a border town in Borno State with Republic of Cameroon which for eighth whole years was not safe enough for congregational prayers on account of terrorists activities in the area, held Jumma’at prayers on Friday, February 5 2021.

Hundreds of upbeat locals were seen gathered at the prayer ground observing Jumma’at prayers on Friday, something that they have not contemplated in the past eight years as a result of bloody campaign waged by Boko Haram terrorist elements.

Nigeria Security Digest gathered that normal life is gradually returning to Banki and Bama towns in Bama local government area following the sustained offensive operations embarked upon by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole.

According to sources, a number of other communities in the local government area are still uninhabited and where people are able to eke a out a living in those areas, normal socioeconomic and religious life are absent because they are deemed not safe due to the activities of terrorists.

Locals have observed a noticeable renewal of vigour and determination by troops following the recent appointment of new set of Service Chiefs by President Buhari.
