Gen Attahiru visits Op Lafiya Dole Headquarters, applauds troops’ performance
- promises formidable rotation plan for troops
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru paid a maiden operational visit to Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC) at the Headquarters Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE (OPLD) on Monday, 8 February, 2021.
The Chief of Army Staff was on the visit to assess and acquaint himself with the current operational preparedness of troops and the overall state of equipment as well as the general deployment and activities within the entire theatre of operation for prompt action. On arrival at the MCCC, Major General Attahiru was received and briefed at the Theatre Headquarters by the Theatre Commander OPLD Major General Faruk Yahaya. The brief which dwelled extensively on the general conduct of the operations and achievements recorded so far in the fight against Insurgency.

Similarly, the COAS was taken on tour to Special Army Super Camp 1 Ngamdu Sector 2. During his address, he commended and appreciated the troops for their untiring efforts and commitment in the fight to end Insurgency. He assured that all issues bordering on conduct of the operation and their welfare is accorded top priority. While assuring troops of his commitment to inject new ideas and strategies, he urge them to intensify the aggressive clearance posture in the ongoing operation “TURA TAKAIBANGO”
Furthermore, the COAS disclosed that very soon, the Army will come up with a formidable rotation plan within the theatre to relief troops that have served and are due for rotation without affecting the overall efforts on ground. Also, he said troops will soon receive his command philosophy that will serve as a guide and operational compass to enable him steer the affairs of the NA to a greater heights.
Additionally, the highly elated COAS stated that he has taken notes of some glaring challenges mentioned during the brief and he gave his assurances to provide all the necessary tools and platforms for the operation to thrive.
The COAS was accompanied on the visit by the Chief of Training and Operations Army, Major General Nuhu Angbazo and other Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters.
