“Boko Haram Living Its Last Days” — Cameroon Govt.

A Minister in Cameroon has claimed that the terrorist Boko Haram group is living its last days in the country, despite rising terrorist attacks in the Far North region of the country.

Paul Atanga Nji, Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, says the terrorist group Boko Haram, is “living its last days” in the country.

There has been a spike in Boko Haram attacks in the Far North Region of Cameroon within the last three months with regular suicide bomb attacks as well as abductions and land mine explosions.

The Minister made the comment after representing the state of Cameroon at a tripartite meeting with representatives of Nigeria and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHC) during which the repatriation of 5,000 Nigerian refugees from the Minawoa refugee camp back to their country was discussed.

While presiding at a security meeting on Wednesday Feb.12, and Nji said based on security reports in his possession, “the security situation in the region is under control”. At the meeting, various administrative authorities of the region including Senior Divisional Officers and Divisional Officers were present.

“The Governor has made a report to us. Boko Haram is living its last days here. The principle now is that Boko Haram must be completely eradicated,” the minister assured.

He showered praises on his collaborators in the region as well as the army and the local population for the synergy that exists between them.

“The head of state has encouraged the defense and security forces for the good work they are doing on the ground.”

“The head of state has equally congratulated the administrative authorities beginning with the governor of the region, the senior divisional officers and the divisional officers, but also the population.”

The minister noted that there is a resumption of normal activities in the region, notably the reopening of schools, but still called for vigilance by the defense and security forces as well as the citizens with a view to definitively defeating the Boko Haram hydra.
