Obasanjo’s former aide, Ambassador Ejike Eze, declares for APC, calls for ‘participatory democracy’

The All Progressives Congress (APC), one of the two outstanding parties in Nigeria yesterday, 15th February 2021, landed a gold mine when a heavyweight and an illustrious son of Ibagwa-Aka ancient but serene community, in Igbo-Eze South LGA of Enugu State, Ambassador Simon Ejike Eze, changed the political narratives in Igbo-Eze South and perhaps, Enugu State, with his glorious entry into partisan politics and the ruling party.

The ceremony attracted the heavy and the mighty, in APC in Enugu State and beyond. By 12.30 pm, dignitaries have started arriving the famous Umuelua Town Hall compound venue of the occasion. By 3.00 pm the place was filled to capacity making it difficult to contain the tumultuous crowd of party faithful, supporters and enthusiasts who thronged the place to witness the occasion.

There is no doubt that this date will be remembered for a long time to come especially in Ibagwa-Aka and indeed Enugu State. This is because this great son of Ibagwa-Aka, Amb. Ejike Eze, (an international personality and a diplomat of repute and former Senior Special Assistant on Security and Protocol to President Obasanjo), will forever be remembered as the biggest fish ever to join APC in Ibagwa-Aka since the formation of the party on 6th February 2013. Added to that, he will be bringing to bear his wealth of experience in diplomatic service and international politics. Furthermore, Amb. Simon Eze is a socialite, a lover of humanity and an accomplished statesman.

To add colour to the occasion, various musical groups like ‘Eke Echezema’, from Ibagwa-Aka, a women cultural dance from Enugu Ezike and ‘Egwu Igba’ from Nkanu, were all on hand to make the event diversive.

Highlights of the event was the formal presentation of the party’s symbolic broom and the Constitution by the Distinguished Senator, Jonathan Zwingina from Taraba State to Amb. Eze. In his response, an elated Amb. Eze who was overwhelmed by their show of love and brotherhood, praised the party leadership, adding that the beauty of participatory democracy is the freedom to associate with any group one wishes. He thanked them for the confidence reposed in him and promised to do his best in order to uplift the party in the state and beyond.

Welcoming Amb. Ejike Eze into the party, Barr. Tabugbo Ogara assured him of the party’s maximum support at all times. Other dignitaries spoke glowingly about Amb. Ejike Eze, assuring him of their maximum support.

Another spectacular event that followed was the introduction of decampees from PDP led by Hon. Ayogu Eze from Itchi Uwani Community and Lucky Idoko, a former Councilor from Unadu. Speaking after he was officially received by the party officials, the decampees thanked the party leaders for their magnanimity, promising to work hard to continue to grow the party in the state.

Tabugbo Ogara, Coordinating Chairman of Registration and Revalidation Exercise in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwaoye, APC State Chairman, Gen. Chris Sunday Eze, Gen JOJ Okoloagu, Hon. Eugene Odo, former speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. A.C Ude, Contact and Mobilization Chairman in Enugu State, Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo, Barr. Bath Ugwoke, Chief Strategists, APC Nigeria.

Others are, Oby Nwofor, APC Women leader Enugu State, Mr Robert Eze, APC Secretary, Enugu State, Mr. Ever Asadu, APC Admin Secretary, Enugu State and many other important people too numerous to mention.

The decampees from the PDP to APC are: Hon Ayogu Eze Jr,  former Executive Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Hon Idoko Lucky Okechukwu, former Councillor, Unadu Ward, Mr. Ikechukwu Ameh, former PDP youth leader, Unadu Ward, Mr. Ugwu Bala, Mr. Omeke Yusuf, Mr. Eze Ibekwe and Mr. Ameh Uzoamaka.
