Just In: Two soldiers killed as gunmen attack troops’ location in Adani, Enugu
Gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), yesterday, 13 July, 2021 attacked troops deployed to checkmate the activities of criminals in Adani community of Uzo-Uwani LOcal Government Area, Enugu State.
The troops who were taken unawares by the gunmen at the Iggah/Asaba checkpoint were able to repel the attack; sadly, in the fire fight that ensued, two soldiers paid supreme sacrifice. It was gathered that troops are currently on the trail of the criminals.

In a terse statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army remains undistracted and assures the general public of its commitment to provide adequate security in the general area in collaboration with other security agencies.
He also urged members of the public to complement the effort of the security agencies by remaining law abiding and provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen.
In what seems like renewed attacks on security agents in the South East region after the arrest and repatriation to Nigeria of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Tuesday’s attack on the troops in Adani followed a similar one on Police personnel in Abatete community of Anambra state on Tuesday in which six officers were killed. Eastern Security Network is the armed wing of the secessionist group, IPOB.
