Nigerian troops on Thursday’s evening successfully repelled attacks by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) at a military base and a community in Borno and Yobe states respectively.

It was learnt that the well-armed troops foiled an attempted attack by ISWAP terrorists at a military base in Malam Fatori, Borno State.

The terrorists who came in gun trucks and motorcycles were however subdued by troops who eliminated some of them as others were forced to retreat after a heavy gun battle.

Almost around the same time, military troops stationed in Yobe State also repelled another ISWAP attack at the Babangida community.

A security source said the terrorists were pushed towards Jalingol village close to the Jauro axis in the State.
