Governor Lalong at Wake Keep for late NAF Spokesperson, Air Commodore Maigida, describes him as fine officer and man of character
Governor Simon Bako Lalong was among hundreds of guests that attended the Service of Songs for the late Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Wapkerem Martins Maigida, which took place at the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, NAF Base Jos. the Plateat State capital.
Lalong described the deceased who is his close relative as a fine officer and man of character who has impacted his community, family and served the nation with all zeal and diligence.
He said the demise of Martins is a traumatic experience for the family because he was a role model who served as a guide to the younger ones.
He said though the family is pained by the loss, it is however consoled by the fact that he lived a fulfilled life by serving others and being a humble father and husband.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshall Isiaka Oladayo Amao, represented by AVM Paul Masiyer, said the Service has lost a humble, dedicated and trust worthy officer who served Nigeria with all sense of patriotism.
He commiserated with the the family, the Governor, Government and people of Plateau State with the assurances that the Nigerian Air Force will not abandon the family.
Commander, NAF Station, Jos, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said he received the death of his immediate predecessor who incidentally took over from him as DOPRI with immense shock and grief.
He prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and comfort the family, saying the family will never be abandoned.
In a homily, the clergy called on the people to live a humble and simple life as all the things they are pursuing and even fighting over will come to an end once death knocks.
He said the deceased was a man of few words and maintained a good relationship with his family and creator which gives the assurance that his soul will be granted mercy in eternity
