Troops eliminate terrorist Commander, Ari Ghana, five others in Takaskala ambush

Troops of 144 Battalion in collaboration with hybrid forces have neutralized a top Commander of the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād (Boko Haram), Ari Ghana, and five other fighters in the North East state of Borno.

It was gathered that the troops engaged and killed the terrorists in Takaskala in Gwoza Local Government Area.

The troops had laid ambush in the crossing points of the terrorists around the Mandara Mountains. After one hour, the large numbers of terrorists came to cross on motorcycles.The troops waited for the second badge suspecting that it was Ari Gana and his team. The troops opened fire at them killing five terrorists including Ari Gana.

Before meeting his Waterloo, Ari Gana was the second in command of Ali Ngulde, the Leader of Boko Haram in Mandara Mountain and had led dozens of attacks around Bama, Banki and Gwoza.

The notorious Commander recently led an attack at Nvaha Village along Gwoza to Limankara killing four passengers and military personnel.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, counter insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, that the successful ambush was in continuation of the troops’ renewed offensive operations against the terrorists in Borno State.
