CDS General Musa Pays Tribute to Late General Lagbaja

In a heartfelt tribute to the late General Taoreed Aiodun Lagbaja, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa honored the life, service, and legacy of a man he described as “a soldier’s soldier, a visionary strategist, and a compassionate leader.”

Speaking during the burial ceremony of the esteemed officer, General Musa reflected on General Lua’s immense contributions to the Nigerian Armed Forces and the nation.

General Musa extolled General Lagbaja as a man of immense courage, intellect, and humanity, whose transition to glory has left an indelible void in the Armed Forces. “He amplified the finest ideals of military service duty to nation and country,” Musa said.

From his early days as a young officer to his rise as Chief of Army Staff, General Lagbaja consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty. “He was a leader who walked the talk, whether in the office or on the battlefield,” Musa remarked.

General Lagbaja’s tenure was marked by decisive actions against insurgency, banditry, and other threats to national peace. His efforts significantly enhanced the operational readiness and morale of the Nigerian Army.

“He understood the complexities of modern warfare and the need for innovation in our strategies, yet he never lost sight of the human element—the men and women who serve under the flag and the citizens whose freedom they defend,” Musa said.

Beyond his professional achievements, General Lagbaja was celebrated as a man of faith, kindness, and humility. He was a devoted family man, a mentor to many, and a friend to all who crossed his path. “His ability to inspire those around him was unparalleled, and his wisdom and laughter will be dearly missed,” General Musa added.

As the nation bids farewell to the late General, General Musa called on officers and men of the Armed Forces to honor his memory through action. “Let us strive to uphold the values he stood for—selflessness, diligence, and unity. Let us use this moment to recommit ourselves to the ideals he lived and died for,” he urged.

Addressing the family of the late General Lagbaja General Musa extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Armed Forces. “We know your loss is immeasurable, but take solace in knowing that he lived a life of purpose and left behind a legacy that will never fade. Though he is gone, we are here, and we will not leave you alone,” he assured.

In closing, General Musa called on the Armed Forces to resolve to defeat all enemies of the state, within or outside, as a testament to General Lagbaja’s service and sacrifice.

“Farewell, gallant soldier. Farewell, our brother and leader. May you find peace among the saints and eternal honor in the annals of history,” General Musa concluded.
