Army Ramps up offensive operations, nets terrorist surrender,158 Cattle recovery; foil multiple crimes
The Nigerian Army has intensified its push against terrorists and criminal elements, recording fresh operational successes across the country that include the recovery of 158 cattle, the surrender of a terrorist’s family member, and the foiling of multiple criminal activities.
Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the operations underscore the Army’s resolve to deny terrorists and bandits freedom of action nationwide.
In Borno State, troops of 192 Battalion (Main) in Gwoza received the surrender of an adult female family member of ISWAP/JAS terrorists on September 2, 2025. Preliminary investigations revealed she arrived from Chikide Village with ₦4,500 in her possession before being handed over to 26 Task Force Brigade Military Intelligence for profiling.

In Zamfara State, troops of 1 Brigade at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Danmarke acted on intelligence following livestock rustling at Kyairu Village. The swift response forced the criminals to abandon the animals, which were later recovered and returned to local authorities.
Similarly, in Kebbi State, troops of 1 Battalion (Rear) in Augie, working with a joint team, pursued armed terrorists after an attack on Gulma Village in Argungu Local Government Area. The operation led to the recovery of 30 cattle, which were handed over to traditional leaders for onward return to rightful owners.
Troops in Sokoto State also conducted clearance operations in Sauna/Goboro Forest, Tangaza LGA, following intelligence of terrorist movements with rustled livestock. The criminals fled after contact, leaving behind 68 cattle, which were secured and handed over to community leaders.
In Plateau State, troops of Sector 6 Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) intervened following reports of farm destruction. Twenty-one cattle were discovered grazing unattended in Jos South LGA, while 39 cattle were found grazing unsupervised in Riyom LGA. All were secured for further action.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities, curbing terrorism, and consolidating peace and security across the nation.
