Troops Disrupt Terror Supply Chains, Arrest Key Boko Haram Suspects in Borno, Adamawa

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have intensified pressure on insurgents, recording significant breakthroughs under Operation Desert Sanity IV between September 19 and 24, 2025, in Borno and Adamawa States.
In a series of coordinated operations, troops intercepted critical supplies meant for insurgents, neutralised a suspected Boko Haram scout, and arrested two key individuals linked to terrorist activities.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops foiled multiple attempts to smuggle fuel and fertilizer—materials often diverted to support insurgent operations and improvised explosive device (IED) production.
On September 19, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) and Sector 4 Special Forces seized seven jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Vintim, Mubi South Local Government Area (LGA).

Similar interceptions were made on September 21 and 24, where nine and five jerricans of smuggled fuel were seized along Fillin Ball–Gella road in Mubi South and at Tsamiya in Mubi North, respectively. In addition, large consignments of urea fertilizer were uncovered at Mubi Central Market, forcing suspected suppliers to flee.
In Borno State, on September 22, troops of 73 Battalion (Motorised), supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid Forces, mounted an ambush at Kolori Karumi near Alau Dam. The operation led to the neutralisation of a suspected Boko Haram scout at about 10:15 pm.
The following day, September 23, troops at Forward Operating Base Ngwom arrested 54-year-old Thomas James while attempting to smuggle 23 bottles of PMS concealed in a bag. He was reportedly en route to Gamboru Ngala from Maiduguri and has since been handed over to military intelligence for further investigation.
On September 24, troops working with local hunters apprehended 31-year-old Ahmadu Buba in Garkida, Gombi LGA of Adamawa State. A native of Sabon Gari Kimba in Damboa, Buba confessed to joining Boko Haram in April 2025 and admitted to participating in attacks in Mandaragirau and the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge earlier this year.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience and urged them to maintain the aggressive operational tempo.
