Troops Smash Kidnap Syndicate, Rescue Two Immigration Officers in Benue
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have dealt a decisive blow to kidnappers in Benue State, rescuing two Nigerian Immigration Service officers abducted in Ukum Local Government Area.
The daring operation, carried out on 26 September 2025, followed credible intelligence that traced the kidnappers to Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village in Azendeshi Council Ward. On sighting the advancing troops, the abductors fled, abandoning their captives.

The rescued officers,David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver, were immediately taken into safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and undergoing debriefing.
Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, hailed the gallantry and professionalism of the troops, stressing that the successful mission underscores the military’s resolve to respond swiftly to distress calls, protect citizens, and safeguard farming communities across Benue and neighboring states.
He called on residents to sustain cooperation with security agencies by providing timely and credible information, noting that community collaboration remains vital in stamping out criminal networks.
The Acting Media Information Officer of OPWS, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday.
