GOC 2 Division Leads Rescue Operation, Visits Scene of Bandits’ Attack in Kwara
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMA, Major General C.R. Nnebeife, has assured communities in Kwara State of sustained military operations to rid the area of bandits and other criminal elements.

Major General Nnebeife gave the assurance during an operational visit to Patrol Base Babanla and the palace of the traditional ruler of Ayekale village, Oba Pius Oluwole Oni Dofin of Idofin Odoeshe Ayekale, following a recent bandit attack that claimed three lives at Olegbede village, near Idofin Ayekale in Omu-Aran Local Government Area.
During the visit on October 9, 2025, the GOC and his team advanced towards Babasango Forest, where they successfully rescued two kidnapped victims who had been held captive by the assailants.
According to the statement issued by Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the 2 Division Nigerian Army, Lt Col Polycarp Okoye, the rescued persons were later handed over to the royal father in Ayekale, Oba Pius Oluwole.
Oba Oluwole commended the Nigerian Army for its swift response and attributed the frequent attacks on his community to its proximity to the Babasango Forest, which has become a haven for criminal elements.
While condoling with the monarch and the families of those who lost their lives, Major General Nnebeife reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to maintaining aggressive operations and patrols across the region to ensure peace and security.
