School Girls’ Abduction: What COAS Told Troops in Kebbi
General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to intensify the search and rescue mission for students abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The COAS issued the directive on Monday, November 17, 2025, during an operational visit to the affected region, where he met with frontline commanders and troops engaged in the rescue efforts.
Addressing the troops, General Shaibu emphasized the urgency of the mission, urging them to conduct intelligence-led operations with utmost professionalism. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he charged.

In a bid to strengthen the operation, the Army Chief also met with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as indispensable partners due to their familiarity with the terrain. He called for collaboration between security forces and community volunteers to locate the abductors and ensure the safe return of the students. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he affirmed.
Gen Shaibu also paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the school’s Principal, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, reiterating the Nigerian Army’s commitment to rescuing the abducted girls unharmed.
He urged the troops to remain disciplined and adhere strictly to rules of engagement while maintaining determination in the face of operational challenges.
The abduction has drawn national concern, with security forces under pressure to act swiftly to prevent further incidents and restore confidence in the safety of educational institutions in the region.
