Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze Champions Human Capital Development Beyond Igbo Eze South, Launches Regional AI Empowerment Programme
The Executive Chairman of Igbo Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has continued to expand the frontiers of human capital development in Enugu State as the council partners with leading national and international institutions to train youths across the Enugu North Senatorial Zone in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In a groundbreaking initiative themed “Building the Future: Empowering Youths for the Digital Economy Through Artificial Intelligence,” Igbo Eze South LGA is collaborating with the UNESCO Regional Office, Abuja, the Directorate of International Collaborations, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, UNN, to deliver a 10-day intensive AI training programme.

Scheduled to run from 9th to 18th December 2025 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library (e-library), UNN, the programme is designed to equip young people with competitive digital skills essential for thriving in the fast-evolving global economy. Remarkably, the opportunity is open not only to youths from Igbo Eze South, but to young people across all local government areas in the Enugu North Senatorial District, signalling Hon. Ukwueze’s commitment to regional development beyond his immediate constituency.
Participants will engage in:
• Hands-on AI training tailored for young learners
• Practical demonstrations of real-world AI applications
• Development of AI-driven community-focused projects
• Mentorship from seasoned experts and industry practitioners
• Networking sessions with peers and professionals
The programme targets at least 300 youths and aims to position them for future opportunities in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
A major highlight is the issuance of a Certificate of Completion jointly signed by UNESCO and UNN, a credential expected to boost participants’ professional prospects. Outstanding trainees will also receive special rewards.
