Police Arrest Three “One-Chance” Suspects Over Murder of Abuja Lawyer
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three notorious “one-chance” armed robbery suspects in connection with the murder of a legal practitioner, Barrister Princess Chigbo Nwamaka Mediatrix, in Abuja.
The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the Command’s ongoing campaign against violent crime in the nation’s capital.
The suspects were apprehended following directives from the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, PSC, mandating the swift identification and prosecution of all those involved in the gruesome killing.
Police operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, carried out intelligence-led operations between 5 and 10 January 2026. Using reconstructive digital intelligence to track the victim’s mobile phone, the team conducted follow-up operations in Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities within the Kubwa Area of the FCT, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Those arrested were identified as Saifullahi Yusuf (22) and Ishau Yusuf (24), biological brothers, both from Kaduna State and residents of Dan-Tata Community, Dei-Dei, Abuja, as well as Minka’ilu Jibril, also known as Dan-Hajia, also from Kaduna State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a notorious “one-chance” armed robbery syndicate that has operated intermittently within the FCT for several years, particularly during festive periods.

According to police findings, on 5 January 2026 at about 5:50 p.m., Barrister Chigbo boarded a black Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway, unaware that the occupants were criminals.
The suspects allegedly wound up the tinted windows, threatened her with weapons and attempted to force her to pay ransom for her release. When she reportedly refused to cooperate, she was physically assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries.
The suspects further confessed to dispossessing the victim of her Android mobile phone, which was later sold at Dei-Dei for ₦120,000. Police disclosed that Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000, Saifullahi Yusuf ₦15,000, while Ishau Yusuf and another suspect currently at large, identified simply as Musa, shared the remaining proceeds.
Items recovered from the suspects during the arrest included five pairs of scissors, two sharp dagger knives, two knives, a long chain allegedly used to restrain victims, and a plier. The police believe the exhibits were used in carrying out their criminal operations.
Investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to arrest the remaining suspect and dismantle other criminal networks linked to the syndicate.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, CP Dantawaye reassured residents that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to rid the FCT of criminal elements.
