Troops Neutralise Six Terrorists, Rescue Kidnapped Minor in Zamfara Offensive
Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, have recorded major operational successes in an ongoing offensive against terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State, neutralising six terrorists and rescuing a kidnapped underage victim.
The operation, conducted within the Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area, was aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring peace to the area.
During the offensive, troops also recovered arms and ammunition, destroyed terrorist infrastructure, and degraded the logistics and mobility of the criminal elements.
The operation commenced with a targeted engagement at Indulumu village, where troops made contact with terrorists and neutralised two of them after a fierce firefight. An AK-47 rifle was recovered at the scene.

Advancing further, the Strike Force engaged another group of terrorists at Ruduno village. In the ensuing encounter, four terrorists were neutralised. Troops recovered an additional AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and destroyed two motorcycles used by the terrorists for movement and logistics.
In a significant humanitarian outcome, troops, while exploiting deeper into the forest, successfully rescued a kidnapped underage victim, identified as Halira Ibrahim. The rescue brought relief to the victim and her family and underscored the military’s commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens and combating kidnapping.
The offensive further led to the destruction of multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga and Kukatara areas.
These actions have severely disrupted the terrorists’ operational capacity by denying them safe havens and logistical support.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its resolve to sustain offensive operations against terrorists and bandits, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
