Bandits kill two vigilantes during operation in Niger
Two vigilante operatives have been killed during an operation against armed bandits in the Kainji National Park forest in Niger State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Feb. 10 at about 1:30 p.m., following earlier reports on the arrival of vigilante men from Nasarawa State to support security operations in the area.

Sources said that two members of the vigilante group sustained severe gunshot injuries during an encounter with bandits and later died.
“The deceased were identified as Abdullahi Awala and one other operative whose name is yet to be confirmed,” the sources said.
The command added that several bandits were believed to have escaped from the forest with bullet wounds.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing hoodlums and restore calm to the area, the police said, adding that further developments would be communicated as operations continue.
