Nigerian Army Logistics Chiefs Convene in Benin to Boost Operational Efficiency
The Nigerian Army has commenced a high-level conference aimed at strengthening logistics support and enhancing operational effectiveness across ongoing military engagements nationwide.
The two-day conference, organised by the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), began on Tuesday at the Muhammadu Buhari Auditorium, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST) in Benin City.
The event is themed “Optimising ST Capabilities Towards Providing Effective Service Delivery to Nigerian Army Operations in All Missions.”
Declaring the conference open, the Commander, Corps of Supply and Transport, Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, said the gathering was convened to critically assess the Corps’ operational performance and reposition it to meet the evolving demands of modern warfare.
He emphasised that the contemporary security landscape presents increasingly complex and multidimensional challenges, noting that logistics remains a decisive factor in sustaining military success.
“Operational success is not only driven by combat strength and tactical expertise but also by the reliability, responsiveness and resilience of the logistics architecture supporting the force,” Shagaya stated.

According to him, the conference provides a strategic platform for commanders and senior officers to engage in professional reflection, evaluate operational realities, and proffer innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
He added that the forum would also enable participants to review ongoing commitments and strengthen sustainment strategies critical to mission success.
Shagaya urged participants to approach discussions with professionalism and openness, stressing the need for collective commitment towards improving the Corps’ efficiency in supporting Nigerian Army operations.
In his welcome address, the Commandant of NASST, Major General Adebayo Olatunde Adegbite, described the conference as a vital avenue for interaction between field commanders and senior officers.
He noted that the deliberations would align with the Nigerian Army’s broader mission and command philosophy of building a highly proficient Supply and Transport Corps capable of delivering effective support in all operations.
Adegbite added that the forum would facilitate knowledge sharing, foster collaboration, and generate practical solutions to enhance service delivery within the Corps.
Activities lined up for the event include the commissioning of a Soldiers’ Dining Hall, the unveiling of a remodeled Driving Simulation Centre, and the inauguration of Col I. Taiwo Crescent within the NASST facility. A group photograph session is also scheduled as part of the programme.
The conference will culminate in a Pulling-Out Ceremony and Gala Night on Thursday, March 26, in honour of retired senior officers of the Corps, celebrating their contributions to the development of military logistics in Nigeria.
