U.S., Nigerian Forces Sustain Joint Offensive Against ISIS in Northeast
The United States Embassy in Nigeria has confirmed the continuation of joint counterterrorism operations between Nigerian security forces and the United States Africa Command following the successful elimination of senior ISIS commander, Abu-Bilal al-Minuki.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Embassy disclosed that the Nigerian Armed Forces, working in collaboration with the U.S. Africa Command, carried out additional strikes against ISIS militants in Northeastern Nigeria after the May 15 operation that neutralised al-Minuki.
According to the statement, the sustained offensive is aimed at degrading the operational capability of ISIS-linked terrorists and preventing further threats to regional and international security.

“The removal of these terrorists diminishes the group’s capacity to threaten the safety and security of the United States and our partners,” the statement noted.
The Embassy emphasized that the operations reflect the growing strategic counterterrorism partnership between both countries and underscore their shared commitment to defeating terrorism and safeguarding citizens.
It further confirmed that no American or Nigerian personnel were harmed during the operations.
The latest development signals an intensification of coordinated military pressure on terrorist networks operating within the Lake Chad region and Nigeria’s North-East theatre, where troops of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by air components and international partners, have sustained aggressive offensives against ISWAP and Boko Haram elements.
