Troops Raid Terrorist Camps in Sokoto Forests, Destroy Enclaves

Troops of the Nigerian Army have conducted an offensive operation targeting suspected terrorist hideouts in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 5:00 a.m. on May 30 by troops of CSI Battalion VII, who raided Jima Jimi Forest and adjoining enclaves along the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.
According to the sources, the troops made contact with suspected terrorists in five different camps within the forest area, but the suspects fled before troops arrived at the exact locations.

The troops subsequently destroyed the camps and recovered several items, including one motorcycle, two empty AK-47 magazines, foreign camouflage uniforms, solar panels, bedding materials, cooking utensils and other sundry equipment.
The sources further said that follow-up clearance operations were extended to Tagimba Forest and Marake Forest along the Nigeria–Niger border area.
No further contact was made during the subsequent clearance operations, as the suspected terrorists had already vacated the area.
Security authorities said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to deny terrorist elements freedom of movement and dismantle their logistical bases within the region.
They added that troops would continue sustained offensive operations across forested areas in the North-West to restore peace and security in affected communities.
