Security Operatives Restore Calm After Communal Clash Disrupts Ibadan-Oyo Highway

Security operatives have restored normalcy following a communal clash between indigenes and settlers at Tudun Wuli area of Ojoo in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Sources said the incident occurred on July 8 when a disagreement escalated into violence, prompting the deployment of troops alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Amotekun Corps.

During the disturbance, irate youths allegedly attacked the settlement occupied by northern residents and set several makeshift structures ablaze.
The violence also led to the temporary closure of the Ibadan-Oyo Federal Highway, causing disruption to vehicular movement.
Security personnel, however, swiftly dispersed the hoodlums and restored law and order in the area.
Officials of the Federal and Oyo State Fire Services responded promptly and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
Security sources said the situation had been brought under control, while normal vehicular and commercial activities had resumed in the area.
The authorities are maintaining security presence in the community to prevent a recurrence of the violence, while efforts are ongoing to address the underlying issues that triggered the clash.
