Troops discover, detonate pressure-plate IED in Gwoza

Troops of the Nigerian Army have discovered and safely detonated a pressure-plate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 28, when troops of 26 Task Force Brigade, Gwoza, discovered the IED approximately 400 metres off a road close to their location in Gwoza.
The device, identified as a pressure-plate IED, was successfully rendered safe and detonated in-situ by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
No casualty was reported in the incident.
The successful disposal of the device prevented a potential threat to troops and other road users within the area.
