The Commander of the Joint Security Task Force for Niger Delta code named ‘Operation Delta Safe’, Rear Admiral Suleiman Apochi, on Friday decorated four newly promoted officers under his command with their new ranks and advised them not to relent in giving their best in the task of checkmating security threats.
Those decorated at the Headquarters of JTF in Yenagoa are Lt. Commanders Thomas Otuji, Roy Nweke and Obiora Anyikwe, who were elevated to the rank of Commander as well as the Commander of Sector 4 of JTF, Col. M.U. Muktar who was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
Speaking after the decorations, Apochi stated that their new positions called for greater service to the father land.
Admiral Apochi also urged the officers not to rest on their oars but do all within their powers to attain at least a position higher than a Brigadier General in the service so that in retirement, they will feel fulfilled.
While noting that the officers should not to rely on connections with senior officers for promotion and other favours in future, the Force Commander said rather they should work hard to earn all promotions and placements.
Appreciating the Force Commander and other senior officers after the decoration, Brig-General Muktar commended the military high command for recognizing and rewarding them with the new ranks.
He pledged that the new ranks would spur them to work harder in their areas of responsibilities. The ceremony attracted spouses and relatives of the decorated officers.
