Authorities of the Nigerian Army have stated that the recent appointment of Major General Rogers Nicholas as Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole and redeployment of Major General Ibrahim Attahiru to Army headquarters department of Policy and Plans, was a routine posting.

A statement by Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Onyeama Nwachukwu said, “The attention of the Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole has been drawn to an online article of 8 December 2017 titled ‘How Major General Attahiru lost his job for not supporting fraud’.

“Contrary to the opinion being peddled in the said article, the redeployment of Major General Ibrahim Attahiru to Army Headquarters as the Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans is a routine posting premised on needs assessment and is a normal exercise in the Nigerian Army.

“The Theatre Command therefore wishes to note that such insinuations being touted by a cross section of the media are far from the truth, misleading and capable of eroding the successes so far achieved in the fight against insurgency in the North East.

“It could also send a wrong signal and precipitate disaffection among troops of the Nigerian Army and indeed the Theatre of operation.

“It is imperative therefore to implore members of the public to please discountenance these erroneous impressions.”
