Two brothers have been arrested for the alleged murder of their 67-year-old grandmother in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State for money ritual.

The brothers were alleged to have killed the 67-year-old woman, one Grace Ovbiebo, for the ritual in connivance with two other relatives.

The incident according to the Police took place at Asowota Street, Ohovbe quarters in Benin, the state capital.

Edo State Police Commissioner, Johnson Kokumo confirmed the incident and arrest of the suspects saying, “The two boys killed their grandmother, but the ritual aspect is not part of our investigations”

The suspects, Dickson Oluka and Salave Oluka were said to have consulted a native doctor about their desire to become rich.

They were then advised by the native doctor to strap live tortoises around their backs and kill a close relative, with the assurance that they would automatically become wealthy.

Consequently, the suspects were said to have grabbed their grandmother and smashed her head against the wall, leading to her instant death.

The Police said the two brothers had been had been at large since December 12, 2017 when the murderous act was committed noting that their arrest followed the manhunt lunched for them afterwards.
