Makinde Unveils Oyo State City Watch Project

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has recommissioned an expanded and refurbished State Control Room, the City Watch Project and the Oyo State Crime Alert Platform, at the Headquarters of the State Security Trust Fund, Onireke, Ibadan.

The governor pledged continued commitment to safer and secure Oyo State. He also promised to continue giving adequate priority to the welfare of security agents in the state.

“For officers and men of the security agencies, we will continue to look after your welfare,” he said.

Makinde revealed that he changed his mind after visiting the facility after he assumed office as he initially didn’t support the project.

The project was early commissioned by Abiola Ajimobi during his tenure as governor of the state.

Makinde thanked those that contributed to making the project reality for safer and secure Oyo State.

“I believe this is going to be well utilised.

“I look forward to us working together to expand this to our border points and also have the capacity to respond in a very timely manner to all kinds of criminal activities in the state.

“I give you the assurance of this administration’s support all the time,’’ Makinde said.

Mr Fatai Owoseni, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, said the inauguration of the expanded and refurbished project was part of the priority the government gives to the security sector in the state.

Owoseni, who doubles as the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSTF), also commended the governor for prioritising the provision of adequate security in every part of the state.
