EYES IN THE SKY: How NAF Airstrikes Broke the Back of Bandits Troubling Zakka Village, Katsina

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has once again demonstrated its critical role in the country’s counterterrorism efforts, conducting a successful airstrike that neutralized several bandits and thwarted an attack on Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Katsina State Community Watch Corps personnel in Zakka Village, Katsina State.
The airstrike, carried out by the Air Component of Operation FASAN YANMA (AC OFY) on February 15, 2025, was in response to intelligence indicating a terrorist attack on a PMF location in the community. The bandits had already killed two PMF personnel and four vigilantes, and were taking refuge on nearby Yauni Hill.
The NAF’s swift and decisive response deployed air assets for an air interdiction mission, identifying and engaging the targets. While the operation was successful in neutralizing the bandits, reports of civilian casualties are being taken seriously, with the NAF committing to a thorough investigation.
