Kaduna: Residents Cry Out for Help as Bandit Attacks Ravage Kachia LGA, Home of Military Bases
Communities in Kachia Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, home to some of Nigeria’s foremost military bases, are reeling under escalating bandit attacks, with residents lamenting both worsening insecurity and the deafening silence of major media outlets.
In a strongly worded statement signed by Reverend Father Agbo Gabriel, residents decried the lack of national attention on their plight, despite recurring kidnappings, killings, and arson that have left villages traumatised and displaced.
The latest attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 7, 2025, when gunmen stormed Wakeh village in Agunu District, killing eight people, wounding many others, and setting homes ablaze. Similar assaults have ravaged Ankwa, Bishini, Katari, and other communities, pushing locals into despair.

“The poor people of Kachia town, who once sheltered displaced victims from surrounding villages, are now themselves being targeted,” Rev. Gabriel said. “Kidnappings from farms and homes are happening daily, yet media coverage remains virtually absent. Where are the correspondents of major media houses in Kaduna and Kachia?”
Residents noted that while Kachia is host to strategic military institutions, including the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA), Nigerian Army School of Armament and Technology (NASAT), a Special Forces base camp, and the Nigerian Navy School of Armament, the security situation continues to deteriorate unchecked.
Beyond security, locals also expressed anger over more than two years of inconsistent electricity supply, forcing reliance on solar energy in the midst of growing violence.
The statement urged Governor Uba Sani to take urgent action, calling for stronger community-based surveillance, deeper engagement with local leaders, and coordinated efforts to shield vulnerable villages.
“Kachia is a land of great potential and does not deserve such neglect,” Rev. Gabriel stressed. “We appeal to the government, security agencies, and the media: Kachia too exists.”
As at press time, the Kaduna State Government had not issued any official response to the latest killings.
