NAF Launches Urgent Probe into Alleged Civilian Casualties in Jilli Airstrike
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced an immediate investigation into reports of alleged civilian casualties following an airstrike conducted on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Jilli.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Force acknowledged reports suggesting that the strike may have impacted a local market, potentially resulting in civilian harm.
Expressing concern over the development, the NAF emphasized that it treats all allegations of civilian casualties with utmost seriousness and empathy, stressing that the protection of innocent lives remains a core priority in its operations.

According to the statement, the Chief of the Air Staff has directed the immediate deployment of the Civilian Harm Accident and Investigation Cell (CHAI-Cell) to the affected location to conduct a comprehensive fact-finding mission.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains firmly committed to professionalism, accountability, and transparency in the conduct of its missions,” the statement read, adding that the Service will collaborate with relevant authorities and community representatives to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.
While the investigation is ongoing, the NAF appealed to the public and media to avoid speculation and allow due process to take its course without prejudice.
