NAF Intensifies Air Campaign, Destroys Terrorist Infrastructure in Mandara Mountains
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained its counter-terrorism offensive in the North-East, destroying suspected terrorist structures and logistics hubs in a precision airstrike conducted on April 27, 2026.
The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted Guduf in the Mandara Mountains—an area long identified as a stronghold for insurgent elements.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strike followed actionable intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions which revealed the presence of active terrorist infrastructure supporting ongoing operations.

NAF air assets were subsequently deployed in a coordinated interdiction mission, engaging multiple identified targets with precision. The service said the operation successfully neutralised hostile elements and destroyed key facilities, significantly disrupting the group’s logistics and operational capabilities.
“The strikes were executed with strict adherence to rules of engagement and with due consideration for civilian safety and environmental protection,” the statement noted.
Military authorities say the latest offensive underscores the Air Force’s sustained momentum in degrading insurgent networks and denying them freedom of movement across the theatre of operations.
The Mandara Mountains, straddling Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, have historically served as a strategic hideout for terrorist groups due to their rugged terrain and limited accessibility. Analysts say continued aerial bombardments of such enclaves are critical to weakening insurgent resilience in the region.
The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing joint operations aimed at restoring peace and stability in the North-East.
