Troops neutralise four terrorists, capture one in Timbuktu Triangle

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised four Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and captured one during ongoing clearance operations in the Timbuktu Triangle.
According to sources, the troops, under Brigade Group I (25 Brigade Guards/19 Battalion), made contact with the terrorists at about 1:15 p.m. on May 5 in the Multe general area of the Timbuktu Triangle.
“During the firefight, four terrorists were neutralised while one was captured alive,” the report stated.
It added that troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, 50 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, five AK-47 magazines, nine bicycles and two motorcycles from the terrorists.
The report further disclosed that troops subsequently cleared several terrorist enclaves, including Dusu, Multe and Hawan Burum, consolidating gains in the area.
“All recovered items and the captured terrorist have been moved to Headquarters 25 Brigade for further action,” it said.

In a related development, Brigade Group II (231 Battalion/331 Artillery Regiment and 162 Amphibious Battalion), in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), conducted clearance operations in Kimba and Sabon Gari villages.
It noted that no contact was made with terrorists in those locations, but troops discovered a freshly detonated improvised explosive device (IED) at the entrance of a Forward Operating Base in Sabon Gari.
“The carcasses of dead cows were also observed within the vicinity, indicating recent terrorist activity,” the report added.
Troops were said to have dominated the Main Supply Route (MSR) from Sabon Gari through Mandaragirau to Biu, ensuring safe passage for commuters and denying terrorists freedom of movement.
Similarly, troops of the Army Headquarters Intervention Battalion carried out clearance operations in Abala village within the Timbuktu Triangle, with no contact recorded.
The report noted that the ongoing operations were aimed at flushing out remaining terrorist elements and dismantling their enclaves across the theatre.
