Troops Arrest Two Herders for Grazing in Restricted Area in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace under Operation Enduring Peace have arrested two herders for allegedly grazing livestock in a restricted area in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources disclosed that the suspects, identified as Harasu Wada and Abba Haruna, were apprehended by troops during a routine patrol around Miango at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The sources said the herders were found grazing their animals within a designated restricted area, contrary to existing regulations aimed at preventing conflicts between farmers and pastoralists in the state.

According to the sources, the troops immediately arrested the suspects and took them into custody for further investigation and necessary legal action.
“The suspects were arrested while grazing on a restricted area around Miango in Bassa Local Government Area. They are currently in custody pending further action,” the source said.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to enforce compliance with established regulations and maintain peace in communities affected by recurring farmer-herder tensions.
Security forces have continued to conduct patrols and surveillance across vulnerable areas of Plateau State to prevent breaches of security and forestall possible conflicts.
Authorities have urged residents to comply with existing directives and cooperate with security agencies in sustaining peace and stability across the state.
