Troops Arrest Suspected Drug Peddler in Adamawa, Recover Suspected Methamphetamine

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered substances suspected to be methamphetamine, popularly known as “ice”, during a patrol operation in Adamawa State.
Military sources disclosed on Friday that the suspect, identified as Abubakar Mohammed Dahiru, 25, was apprehended by troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion while on a non-kinetic patrol in Wuropatuje area of Mubi South Local Government Area.
According to the sources, the suspect was arrested on May 27 after he was observed loitering in a suspicious manner within the area.
Items recovered from him included substances suspected to be methamphetamine, a machete and a smoking pipe believed to be used for consuming the illicit drug.

“The suspect is currently in the custody of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion for further investigation and necessary action,” the source said.
The military said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and disrupt networks involved in the trafficking and abuse of illicit substances within the North-East theatre of operations.
Meanwhile, the military noted that the general security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, adding that troops continued to maintain a high level of vigilance against emerging threats.
It also stated that the morale and fighting efficiency of personnel deployed in the counter-insurgency operations remained satisfactory.
Operation Hadin Kai has sustained both kinetic and non-kinetic operations across the North-East aimed at combating terrorism, criminality and other security challenges in the region.
