Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims Along Plateau Highway, Search Ongoing for Missing Driver

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued six persons abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sanyin road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the rescue operation was carried out late on June 4 following reports of suspected kidnappers operating along the route.
According to the sources, troops deployed under Sector 6 of Operation Safe Haven responded swiftly to the distress call and moved to the area where the incident occurred.
On arrival, the troops discovered an ash-coloured Honda vehicle abandoned in the middle of the road with no occupants inside.

The troops immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation in nearby bushes and successfully rescued six victims identified as Ibrahim Usman, Ali Ibrahim, Sabiu Idris, Pte. Ibrahim Musa, Hamisu Abubakar and Joshua Johanna.
Preliminary findings indicated that the victims had boarded the vehicle from Lafia in Nasarawa State and were travelling to Jos when they were intercepted by the suspected kidnappers.
A security source said the rescued victims were safely recovered, while efforts were ongoing to locate the driver of the vehicle who remains missing.
“The troops have continued search-and-rescue operations in the area to ensure the missing driver is found and to prevent further criminal activities along the route,” the source said.
The military said routine patrols remained active across the Joint Operations Area to safeguard communities, schools, places of worship and other critical national infrastructure.
