Preliminary investigations revealed that the terrorists had stolen personal belongings from residents before security forces arrived at the scene. Military authorities noted that the incident underscored the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist groups whose logistics and support networks have been significantly degraded by sustained military operations.
On the same day, troops also responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi Road. Investigations revealed that armed terrorists had ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area.
The troops immediately secured the area, evacuated injured victims for medical attention, and launched efforts to track down the attackers and rescue any passengers who may have been abducted during the incident.
Further successes were recorded in Maru Local Government Area where troops conducting a fighting patrol to Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities arrested eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada.
Items recovered from the suspects included seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms, and other materials believed to be linked to criminal activities. Troops also destroyed a structure allegedly being used by the suspects as an operational base.
In a related development, intelligence-led operations resulted in the arrest of a suspected recipient of recently intercepted ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area on June 5. The suspect is currently in military custody and is assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorist and bandit groups across the North-West region and called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
Military authorities emphasized that the continued successes recorded by troops reflect the determination of the armed forces to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace and security across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
