Troops of the 176 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA have arrested a suspected carjacker and recovered a stolen vehicle in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A military source said the suspect was intercepted at about 11:53 a.m. on June 14 at the Gwagwalada checkpoint in Gwagwalada Area Council while driving the stolen vehicle.

The source added that the suspect confessed to the crime during preliminary questioning, stating that he had a disagreement with his employers and decided to abscond with their vehicle before relocating to Abuja.

According to the source, the suspect and the recovered vehicle are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

The operation forms part of ongoing internal security efforts under Operation MESA to curb car theft and other criminal activities within the FCT.
