Troops, Security Agencies Arrest 46 Suspected Illegal Immigrants in Ogun
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), have apprehended 46 suspected illegal immigrants during a coordinated security operation in Ogun State.
The operation, which commenced on June 11, 2026, was launched following credible intelligence and led to the arrest of the suspects in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and adjoining communities. Security sources said preliminary investigations indicated that the individuals had allegedly resided in the state for about six months without valid immigration documents.
According to military authorities, the suspects claimed during interrogation that they were merchants and workers affiliated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various products and commodities.

A breakdown of the arrested individuals showed that they comprised 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Côte d’Ivoire, four nationals of Togo, and one national of Senegal. The group included 36 males and 10 females.
The suspects have since been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and necessary administrative action in line with existing immigration laws and regulations.
Commenting on the operation, the Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops and collaborating security agencies for their professionalism, vigilance, and effective coordination. He also urged residents to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to relevant authorities.
Military authorities noted that the successful operation reflects the commitment of the Nigerian Army and partner security agencies to curbing illegal migration, strengthening internal security, and protecting Nigeria’s national interests.
