NAF Pounds Terrorist Stronghold in Borno, Neutralises Fighters in Fresh Precision Airstrikes
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained its offensive against terrorist groups in the North-East with fresh precision airstrikes that destroyed a major terrorist enclave and neutralised several fighters at Yaganari in the Gezuwa general area of Borno State.
The successful operation, carried out on July 10 by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, marks another significant blow to terrorist networks as the military intensifies efforts to deny insurgents freedom of movement and opportunities to regroup.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating renewed terrorist activities and the concentration of insurgents within the area.
According to the statement, the Air Component first conducted intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which confirmed the presence of terrorist hideouts, structures and logistics hubs before launching a series of carefully coordinated precision strikes.

The airstrikes, the NAF said, devastated the identified targets, destroyed key terrorist infrastructure and neutralised several insurgents, further weakening the operational capability of the criminal group.
The Air Force noted that the latest offensive underscores the sustained pressure being exerted on terrorist elements across the theatre of operations, significantly degrading their ability to manoeuvre, regroup or launch attacks against military formations and civilian communities.
Commending the personnel involved in the mission, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, praised their professionalism and unwavering commitment to the fight against terrorism.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge. We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities,” the CAS stated.
Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain firmly on course in consolidating the significant gains already recorded in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, stressing that sustained joint operations will continue until terrorist groups are decisively defeated.
The latest strike adds to a series of successful air operations by the Nigerian Air Force under Operation HADIN KAI, reinforcing the military’s determination to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and restore lasting peace and stability across the North-East.
