Nigerian Army Begins Training of 5,300 New Recruits at Depot Osogbo
The Nigerian Army has commenced the basic military training of 5,300 newly recruited soldiers following their formal handover to the Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, marking the start of the 91 Regular Recruit Intake training programme.
The recruits were officially handed over by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, to the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Brigadier General BM Madaki.

The handover marks the commencement of a rigorous six-month basic military training designed to equip the recruits with the skills, discipline and professionalism required to serve as combat-ready soldiers capable of meeting the Nigerian Army’s evolving operational demands.
The 5,300 recruits emerged from the 91 Regular Recruit Intake after a nationwide recruitment exercise conducted by the Directorate of Recruitment of the Nigerian Army under the leadership of Brigadier General I Sule.
Speaking during the ceremony, Brigadier General Madaki assured that the Depot would deliver comprehensive military instruction and character development to transform the recruits into disciplined, resilient and mission-ready personnel in line with the Nigerian Army’s professional standards.
The commencement of training is expected to further strengthen the Nigerian Army’s manpower capacity as it continues efforts to enhance operational effectiveness and address the country’s evolving security challenges through the development of a highly trained and professional force.
